Testimonials

Here are just a few testimonials from my piano students and/or their parents.

I consider it an honour to have taught many dedicated, hard-working students.

My son was registered to two different piano studios in the past and both times he wasn’t able to continue. The teachers didn’t know how to make it fun for him or get his attention/interest. As a mother I was so disappointed but desperate for my son to learn piano.

When I found Sue at Stoney Creek Piano Studio, I thought it will be the same experience as in the past, but it was completely the opposite. Sue is an amazing teacher. She knows how to make it fun and take her students” attention.

My son spent one year with her learning piano; I was amazed how much he progressed. His progress was not only with piano, but his behavior also changed, and he became more mature, calmer, able to focus, and loved to learn.

Sue made a huge difference in my son’s life, and I am so grateful for her. Whoever becomes Sue’s student, those kids are lucky to have her. I really wish we lived there to continue with her lessons. She is absolutely an amazing teacher! I feel that words are not enough to express her talent! She is speechlessly a wonderful teacher!

My daughter has been going to Sue for Piano lessons for about 6 months now. The progress she has made in those 6 months is incredible. Sue is such a great teacher. Sue is very patient and tailors each lesson to my daughters abilities to ensure that she is comfortable with the material being taught before moving on to new learnings.

My daughter is very timid, but Sue is able to make her feel comfortable in the studio. Sue incorporates games, stickers and other fun items into each lesson to ensure that my daughter is engaged. Sue also encourages parent participation in each lesson to help with the at home practice which helps ensure that my daughter is getting the most out of each session.

I am very grateful for Sue. It is evident that teaching piano is not just a job, but her passion. That is the difference. She longs to see her students succeed, and does what she can to stoop down, so they can climb up higher. She challenges and pushes me on, which really helps when I am becoming careless. The evidence of the success of her teaching lies in the progression of her students. As a result, I am enjoying playing songs I didn’t think possible. Thank you Sue!

Sue’s teaching style is game-based and it appeals to young learners. They’re having fun while learning at the same time. Sue is teaching our daughter the basics and she is actually learning instead of just memorizing what she needs to do. Sue continues with one concept and doesn’t move on until she is sure that our daughter understands it. K. is learning so much and is really enjoying her lessons.

Sue is a very different teacher from our children’s past instructors.  Our children are learning while playing games, which makes piano lessons more fun.  She breaks down every step of each piece of music, and teaches our children how to play it correctly.  Sue makes sure the kids understand everything before she moves onto the next piece.

Sue has a lot of patience with children.  She understands each student is unique, and customizes her approach to each of our children.   Our children love, respect and listen to her, and are now practising every day.

Sue is not only an amazing teacher but also a creative piano instructor. For example, she developed games to deliver musical concepts, which is something my kids appreciate. After my kids starting studying piano with Sue, our house is full of music and joy.

Sue has a unique teaching style that appeals to children. Instruction at the piano is supplemented with lots of games and activities which are intended to help children learn music theory. Under her guidance, our daughter who had no experience with the piano, has progressed to reading music and playing interesting melodies in such a short period of time.

Sue is friendly and has lots of little tricks up her sleeve to ensure kids learn effectively. When our daughter drops her wrists while at the piano, out comes `Stripey’ – the friendly striped oven mitt – that swims under her wrists to ensure proper posture is maintained! Sue is committed to her teaching, lays out clear expectations for her students  (such as the need to practice regularly) and holds them to account.

We continued lessons virtually through the COVID-19 lockdown, and had the option of resuming in-person lessons as Ontario began to reopen. This helped our daughter retain some semblance of normalcy, as she could not continue with many of her other extra-curricular activities. We are very glad we found her.

Sue is a very talented instructor and gifted musician. She has a good balance of being friendly, patient and kind while commanding respect from her students and holding them accountable. Sue uses a wide variety of teaching methods to help her students not just learn music and theory but also enjoy it. We are so happy we found your piano studio Sue!

Sue is an absolutely fantastic and talented piano teacher, I can’t recommend her enough.

My son is on the Autism Spectrum, has ADHD and an auditory disorder, and Sue not only embraced the challenges teaching him brought, but accommodated his needs brilliantly at every turn. She is very flexible in her teaching methods – our lessons were often away from the piano, playing innovative games that Sue herself created or sought out for him, and being active with balls, bean bags, and magnets.

Sue adopts modern, innovative teaching methods frequently, which we found to be SO helpful in learning great habits from the beginning. My son (and his little sister who often tagged along) would frequently ask to go to her house because he just loved his lessons so much. She cares about you and your family, and became a true supportive friend to both my kids and myself.

We recently moved across the province, and wish we could have brought her with us! If you’re looking for a teacher who is always willing to go the extra mile for your child and accommodate whatever your child’s goals are, whether it be learning for fun or more serious instruction, Sue is undoubtedly the piano teacher you’re looking for.

Sue provides a wonderful service. She has unlimited patience and knowledge of music. She passes on so much that opens up the understanding and appreciation of music. She manages to make learning accessible to even the most novice of novices! Thank you Sue for all that you do!

Best piano teacher we have ever had. We have been to four other places. Kids are progressing really well and actually exploring the instrument rather than just sticking to their books.  I am now taking lessons too!

Sue is friendly.  She is like a member of the family.   She treats my child like he is her own child, with love and respect.  She is more than a piano teacher.  Other teachers progress through pieces fast, and don’t care about the result.  Sue takes time, makes her students get it right, get it perfect. She gives lots of feedback to parents.  Sue is an inspiration.

Our daughter started her lessons with Sue a year ago, having attended another piano program for 3 years prior. Sue not only teaches how to play piano, but also helps to understand music foundations. Sue uses an interactive approach in a very relaxed atmosphere, incorporates different music theory games, making learning interesting and engaging. Sue pays attention to posture, hand and finger placement when sitting in front of a piano. She focuses on student needs and dovetails her program to suit the student.

We are very happy with our daughter’s progress so far. Our daughter is more confident with reading music and playing piano. She has flourished in the relaxed learning environment under Sue’s watchful eye. Thank you, Sue!

Piano lesson day is my favourite day of the week!  Sue always greets me with a smile.  Sue is patient with me.  When I don’t get something right, she gives steps for me to get it right, and doesn’t get mad.  She is a very calm teacher, makes jokes, and doesn’t yell.
